Brianna let out a long sigh as the taxi pulled up to the curb next to the old pub. For a moment, she just sat there, her hands on the windows and her face pressed up against the glass. It felt cool on her skin...which was a relief, considering how warm she felt. There were butterflies in her stomach, and she was almost sure that her cheeks were probably very pink. Tears stung her eyes, but she did her best to blink them away. She didn't know what was going to happen next. This was the single most frightening thing she had ever experienced. She'd never been so scared to meet someone new in her whole young life.
Taking a deep breath, Brianna reached inside her pocket to pay the taxi before hopping out with her little suitcase. She watched the taxi as it quickly drove away and hugged her arms to herself as she stared at the door in front of her. A new feeling of excitement mixed with her feeling of fear, and she took a few unsure steps forward. When she reached the door, she used her back to push it open and held onto her suitcase with both hands. She grunted with the effort of it before letting out a sigh of relief when she finally made it inside. At least it was warm in there.
Setting her suitcase down by the door, Brianna drank the place in with her eyes. It smelled strange, but she couldn't quite put her finger on why. Her eyes locked on someone behind the bar, and she realized something: she didn't really know who she was looking for. She knew his name, but what if he wasn't here? What if this was the wrong place? What if she was in the middle of London, and she was all by herself?
She climbed into a seat at the bar and placed her arms on the bar-top out in front of her. Glancing at the person behind the bar, she offered her best smile. Inside, she wanted to run away. The fear was back, and she didn't like it. "Hi...I was..." she took a deep breath, "I mean, I need...I was looking for...is Phillip Gordon here?" she squeaked, her eyes directed to the ground.

Brianna looked up, her eyes meeting the other man's. She flinched slightly when he hollered for Phillip, but soon relaxed again. As she waited, she kicked her legs and simply watched them swing. She could feel her nerves wanting to take control again. She felt like she was going to be sick and going to cry all at the same time. She just hoped that her grandmother was right about this. She didn't really understand much of it at all, but she hoped that everything would somehow be okay. Still, as she sat and waited, she couldn't help but think of all the ways that the whole thing could go very very wrong.
What if he had other kids? What if there was no room in his life for her? What if he didn't like her? What if he denied her completely? What was she supposed to do then? She felt the tears sting her eyes again, but did her best to keep the smile on her face in front of the other man. When he spoke again, she looked up at him, and her expression brightened just a little bit.
"You...have hot chocolate...here?" she asked, her face frozen in shock and pleasant surprise. She thought about it for just a moment, rubbing her chin between her fingers before she finally replied to him with an enthusiastic nod of her head. "Yes, please!" she grinned. She reached into her pocket and pulled out the bit of change she'd had left over from the taxi ride and pushed it towards him, a tiny blush coming to her cheeks.
"I'm Brianna. Brianna Blackstone," she said proudly. "Are you...are you Phillip's brother? Is he..." She leaned forward on the bar to try and get as close to Oliver as she could manage without falling over. "Is he...nice?" Her tone dripped with worry as she met Oliver's gaze. Any minute now, she'd meet him, and then...what? She hated not knowing.

Oliver laughed a little when she replied to him, "Alright one hot chocolate it is then. Even put some cream and some chocolate in for you." He told her with a wink. Hey looked to him that the girl needed a bit of cheering up so he was going to do his best to keep her smiling. Though he pushed the change back to her, "First one is on the house."
He listened to her question, so apparently he was right. Still he needed to think that over just a bit. And as he worked on getting her hot chocolate he said, "One of his brothers, he has seven other siblings including me, eight all together. But one is missing and our youngest two died along with our parents in a car wreck over cross the pond."
He sat the mug in front of her before putting on the cream, "There we go one hot chocolate. Now as for Phillip, his nice pretty rough around the edges but thats only because I think he just keeps to himself and he does crazy things like jump off cliff and our of airplanes. But there isn't anything he wouldn't try once."
Though he was cut short when Phillip walked out saying, "Alright you pest, wheres this visitor I'm supposed to have? Or did you just make it, I've still got dishes to clean." Course he didn't really notice Brianna cause he was focused on his brother.
Oliver turned to Brianna giving her a wink before saying with a smile, "Oh you have one and you'll have some questions to ask I except as well as answers to be giving some." He point over to Brianna, "Phillip, Brianna Blackstone. Brianna, Phillip Gordon. And now I think time to close up for a bit and go see what my daughter is up to." And with a flick of his wand Oliver flipped the open to close and locked the door. Before heading upstairs.
Though not before he turned around and said, "It's a surprise at first Phillip and scary as hell but its a nice one just don't be hard headed." And that was the last thing he said before going upstairs.
Phillip watched Oliver with a look of confusion alright this was weird he closed up but this girl was still here and just what did that last part mean? Looking back at Brianna, he gave her smile. Well this was ackward to she looked like someone he knew. He just couldn't place his finger on it. Blackstone that he recongized but how?
He nodded to the mug, "You enjoy hot chocolate then?" Hey that was all he could think of besides talking about the weather. Which was lame.

"Thanks," her voice came out as a whisper as she pocketed the money he gave back to her and took her hot chocolate. She was quiet for a moment as she sipped at it, a small smile coming to her face. It tasted very good. She never thought places like this one would have stuff like hot chocolate. She'd have to remember that. She talked with Oliver as she waited for Phillip to come out. The hardest part was not knowing what or who to expect...but at least according to Oliver, her biological father was a nice guy. That was a plus in the situation if there ever was one, and Brianna focused on that, tapping out a rhythm on the counter-top as the seconds ticked by.
She glanced up when he came into the room, and her breath caught in her throat. She stared at him, studying his every feature as he stood there and talked to his brother. This man was her father...or at least that is what she had been told. If she stared long enough, she could almost see it, but then again, she never expected to be in this position. It was awkward and strange and just plain scary.
When Brianna finally took a breath, her lungs burned. She smiled shyly at the man named Phillip, and was certain there was probably a lovely pink tint to her cheeks...but she didn't care too much. She focused on him. Her father. Was he really going to be her family now? What if he didn't like her? What if he had another family that was more important to him than she could ever be? She shivered at the thought and stared down at her hot chocolate a moment before realizing he'd spoken to her.
"Yeah," she nodded with a tiny smile. "I like it a lot! And Oliver didn't even make me pay for it." she beamed. She buried her face in her cup again, unsure of how to continue. When she finally looked up, there was fear in her eyes. This was the hard part. "I don't know how...I mean...I'm your..." No matter how she tried to phrase it, she seemed to choke on the words...so she opted for the alternative option. Reaching into her other pocket, she pulled out the wax-sealed letter that her grandmother had given to her for Phillip and pushed it forward across the bar top. She hid behind her cup of hot chocolate as she waited for him to read it.
((OOC: If you want to read what the letter says, I put it in the extra information section of Brianna's bio!))

Brianna looked up from her hot chocolate, watching him as he read her grandmother's letter. When he finally spoke, she let out a breath she didn't even realize she'd been holding, and flashed him a small nervous smile. She took another sip from her cup and nodded slightly. "It's okay..." Her voice sounded much more sure than she actually was. In truth, she was scared to death. "Mummy and daddy--" She paused at the word and looked up at him, "--they took good care of me until..." Until that night. Brianna didn't really remember a lot of it, and she wasn't really keen on talking about it, either.
She cleared her throat. "Grandma's been sick," she explained, her expression saddened. "I'm sorry if...I don't want to cause trouble. Gran thought that..." She stopped again, shaking her head and letting out a sigh. "I'm Brianna..." Oliver had already said that, but her name seemed to be one of the only things she could really get right.

Bri sighed with relief again. He was nice. He hadn't told her to go away or seemed disappointed or anything at all. The thought brought a smile to her face as she looked up at him. "It's...it's very nice to meet you." She blushed again and looked down at the bar top, kicking her feet out underneath her. She was silent for a while, but when he spoke again, she looked up, and her eyes brightened.
"Thank you," she whispered. She knew he gran wasn't feeling too well, but she would have been heartbroken to know she couldn't see her at all anymore. She wasn't sure how often she'd get the chance now, but it was nice to know that he didn't seem to mind at all. It made everything else a little bit easier to deal with. He really was a nice guy.
"Gay?" She screwed her face up in confusion, studying his face as she did so. "What do you mean?" She hadn't quite gotten old enough for the 'birds and the bees' chat from her mother just yet, and it certainly hadn't been something she and her gran had gone over in the short amount of time she'd lived with her.
She nodded quickly. "Thanks..." she repeated, her cheeks reddening. "...Phillip..." She couldn't bring herself to call him 'dad' just yet, but that's what he was. She just needed a little time to get used to the idea was all.
